As December unfolds, many of us are gathering around tables with family and friends, sharing stories, traditions, and hopes for the year ahead. It’s a time of reflection where we look back at the challenges we’ve overcome and the goals we’ve accomplished as we set intentions for the new year. In Baltimore, our neighbors live with warrants and records that threaten their ability to find work, housing, and stability because of small mistakes or unresolved legal issues. These barriers often stem from misunderstandings or minor infractions, yet they carry heavy consequences, especially for Black and low-income community members. Without access to legal support, many remain trapped in a cycle of fear, poverty, and crisis.

That’s where BALT steps in. Our free legal clinics provide warrant recalls and record expungements right in the heart of West Baltimore’s Black Butterfly communities. Over the past year, we helped 000 clients clear their records and recall warrants, opening doors to stable employment and housing for these families. Each record wiped clean, each warrant recalled, offers a person the chance to breathe more freely and step into the future with hope.
